Tofu scramble and more vegan dining at Lovin' Spoonfuls Cafe in Tucson

Fiesta Scramble
Tofu and green chiles with vegan cheese
You know the food is good when a place has been around for 11 years, and indeed that's the case at Lovin' Spoonfuls in Tucson, Arizona. This upscale cafe serves a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they're all vegan. I enjoyed the tofu scramble a lot, and also took a salad and cooked kale to go for dinner later on. I also grabbed a bottle of their own vegan salad dressing (delicious) and they also have their own recipe book. Lovin' Spoonfuls is great for vegans and your non-vegan friends, too.

You won't go hungry at Lovin' Spoonfuls in Tucson
There's plenty of seating indoors and also out on the patio

Check out the full menu, hours, and location on the Lovin' Spoonfuls web site and their Facebook page.

Read more about Lovin' Spoonfuls in the HappyCow Cookbook with recipes from vegan restaurants around the world -- it's an excellent book with delicious vegan recipes.

Keep looking though, because there's a cart on wheels selling all kinds of sweet and savory crepes, including plenty of delicious vegan crepes. Pecan Waffle at the Waffle House in Columbia, Missouri

Pecan Waffle at the Waffle House in Columbia, Missouri
If you live in a part of the country with a Waffle House, they seem to be at every freeway exit. But if you live on the west coast, you might not have tried one of these 24-hour breakfast eateries. With a simple menu, it's the perfect place to get a crisp, tasty waffle any time of day.

A truck stop isn't exactly the first place you think to take your daughter on your cross-country road trip, but it is when it's got the best cinnamon roll I've ever tasted.

Scrapple at The Dining Car and Market

The Dining Car and Market in Philadelphia
The Dining Car and Market in Philadelphia
The Dining Car and Market in Philadelphia is located in a shopping mall, but it looks like its from a different era. It was built by the Swingle Dines company and dropped at its current location. The hostess says its been there since the early 1980s although the restaurant itself is older than that. It's like walking into a 1940s dining car with silver and black and art deco everywhere. It's a lot of fun just going inside. There's plenty of seating, which is a good thing since it was very busy when I was there for an early lunch. The Dining Car also has a bakery.

I found The Dining Car and Market in the original Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives book which has been one of my go-to books during my cross-country road food trip from California --

Mac n Cheese Pancake at Honey's Sit 'N Eat

I think foodies can agree that macaroni and cheese goes with just about anything, or at least, with a lot more things than our parents used it for. It's in sandwiches, stuffed under meat dishes, and so why not put it in a pancake? Which is exactly what I had at Honey's Sit n Eat. Read my full review after the break.

I was in Savannah for a day of sightseeing, and a day of walking. After all, Savannah is one of the most walkable cities in the country with its Oglethorpe urban street plan and many parks. So I needed a hearty breakfast, and I found it at Clary's Cafe. Read my review of the Hoppel Poppel at Clary's Cafe in Savannah, Georgia.

French Toast with Brie at The Shed

French Toast with Brie at The Shed in Las Cruces

I started my first full day in Las Cruces early with a visit to The Shed. The Shed is a breakfast and lunch restaurant recommended to me by Las Cruces blogger Melodie (and she's got more than just food -- check out her Mochi in the Desert blog for what to eat and where to go in Las Cruces and New Mexico). And she was right! Read my review of my delicious breakfast at The Shed in Las Cruces after the break.

Pumpkin Pancakes at the 24th Street Cafe

Guy Fieri was in Bakersfield recently to visit several restaurants for Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and I ate breakfast at one of them. Pumpkin pancakes in March? Why not! Read my full review of 24th Street Cafe in Bakersfield with pictures after the break.

Basque Breakfast Sliders at Pyrenees Cafe

I've been to many Basque restaurants for the family-style dinner where you sit at long tables with other diners, and so much food is brought to your table that you leave without being able to take another bite. But a Basque breakfast? What is that about? I had to find out so I went to Pyrenees Cafe in Bakersfield for breakfast. Read my full review of Pyrenees Cafe as seen on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri after the break.
