Stromboli at Four Kegs Sports Pub
I'm a few days into my cross-country trip and spent today in Las Vegas. Where else to eat but a TV foodie joint? I pulled out my books and found Four Kegs Sports Pub. It's off the strip so you'll need a car or take a taxi from the Strip. It's well worth the short drive. Read my full review of Four Kegs Sports Pub as seen on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri after the break.

Happy Hour at Alameda Brewhouse in Portland's Beaumont district
After our visit to Pip's Original mini donuts yesterday morning, we walked along Fremont Street in the Beaumont district of Portland. Nearby we came across the Alameda Brewhouse. We're from Alameda (in California, not Oregon) so we wondered about the name, and one of the owners told us there is a neighborhood nearby with that name. But also, the other owner is a fan of the Oakland Raiders whose training camp is in Alameda. So kind of fitting that we should try it, right? She told us they serve a daily happy hour, and we returned later in the day for a few happy hour beers and dinner. Read my full review of Alameda Brewhouse after the break.

Firecracker shrimp po boy at Parasol's Bar in New Orleans |
Parasol's is a neighborhood bar surrounded by some pretty amazing homes and mansions. Downstairs is a long bar and the food is upstairs. The bar seems like one you would see on a "Best Bars in America" list such as this list of New Orleans bars from Punch.
Walk upstairs and place your order, and enjoy the TV while you wait. The staff is super friendly and the sandwiches don't take long (even the fried fish). Everything is made to order.

Roast beef po boy at Parasol's Bar |
Another signature sandwich is the firecracker shrimp po boy. The shrimp are spicy but not overly hot, and have a great flavor to them. You can see from the photo that Parasol's is pretty generous with the shrimp, too.

Fried catfish po-boy at Parasol's Bar & Restaurant in New Orleans |
The po boys come in regular and large. The large (especially the roast beef) is a very good deal (most are about ten bucks) and will fill even a big appetite (again, especially the roast beef).

The t-shirts are pretty spiffy and not too bad of a deal at fifteen bucks.
